Citizenship Application

Canadian citizenship can be obtained by birth or through the naturalization process. Immigrants who apply for and gain citizenship enjoy the benefits of one of the world’s most powerful citizenships.

General Requirements for the Naturalization Process:

  • Be a Permanent Resident.
  • You must have been physically present in Canada for at least 1095 days as a Permanent Resident in the 5 years immediately preceding the application.
  • If prior to your citizenship application you were in Canada with a Temporary Resident or Protected Person (Refugee) status you should know that the days you were in Canada can be counted as half a day for the purposes of your application (Max 365 days).
  • Have filed your taxes if necessary for the last 3 years prior to your application.
  • Pass a citizenship test.
  • Have a minimum English level of 4 CLB (18 – 54 years old).
